With the PowerClear greywater utilisation system, lightly polluted water can be reused. The compact system can process up to 800 litres of water a day from showers, baths and handwashbasins for use in toilet flushing, washing machine and irrigation of garden. First the greywater undergoes biological treatment in a loop reactor with special aeration. The filtration unit is supplied with pre-cleaned greywater by the gravity-effect. The filtration unit consists of membran elements with a pore size of 0,00005mm and guarantees complete retention of germs and bacteria due to sterile filtration (size of bacteria by comparison: 0,001mm). The gravity-effect guarantees a continuous flow of filtrate and because of this long service life with low maintenance. The supply of clarified water and a reliable supply of water for flushing toilets are provided by the proven PowerClear technology components.

All processes are monitored by micro-electronics. The intelligent control optimises the process with different patterns of consumption. Faults are displayed by an optical and accoustic alarm. Greywater utilisation requires the drain of the waste water from the shower, bath and hand basins to the PowerClear-system. The rest of waste water can be drained to the sewer system, as usual. These facts have to be considered when planning the building. Akin to the rainwater utilisation the service water pipelines and the taps need to be marked, so that there is no confusion with the potable water system possible. When using the greywater it is not necessary to pay effluent tariffs in addition, because the potable water is only used a second time before draining it to the sewer system.
